Gold’s Gym DC Metro partners with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for local initiatives, kicking off during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Updated: Aug 19

Washington, D.C. - August 16th, 2024 — Gold’s Gym DC Metro is thrilled to announce a new partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to support local initiatives aimed at improving the health and well-being of the community. This collaboration will involve a series of events and programs designed to raise awareness and funds for the mission of St. Jude to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment.

A Commitment to Community Health

Gold’s Gym DC Metro has long been dedicated to fostering a healthier, more active community. This partnership with St. Jude aligns perfectly with our mission. Together, we aim to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families in the D.C. Metro area.

Upcoming Events and Initiatives

The partnership will kick off with a series of events, including:

  1. Charity Fitness Challenge: Members and non-members will be invited to participate in a month-long fitness challenge. Participants will seek sponsorships for their workouts, with all proceeds going directly to St. Jude.

  1. Community Health Fairs: Gold’s Gym locations throughout the DC Metro area will host health fairs offering free fitness classes, health screenings, and educational seminars on nutrition and wellness.

  1. St. Jude Walk/Run: Gold’s Gym will sponsor and participate in the annual St. Jude Walk/Run, encouraging members to join in and support the cause.

  1. Fundraising Events: Special events such as spin-a-thons, Zumba marathons, and boot camps will be organized, with all entry fees and donations benefiting St. Jude.

“We are honored to partner with Gold’s Gym DC Metro this September as we recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Local partnerships like this help advance work by St. Jude for children and families across the United States faced with a diagnosis of childhood cancer,” said Karine Sewell, Area Executive Director for ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Together, we look forward to engaging the DMV area community in this important work.”
